Opening the Temple

While we were in Ubud, near where we were staying, a new temple was opening.  Since this only occurs once every ten years or so, we were very excited to witness the celebration of the special event. The streets were filled with locals from the surrounding villages donning colorful attire (instead of the typical white garb) and celebrating the opening with music, gigantic statues, and offerings.

Here are some photos of the festivities!

Gigantic statues are balanced atop poles and moved about as if the statues themselves are dancing.
